They (Passport Office) received it by mail on Jun 25, took the $160 payment off our credit card on Jun 7. On Jun 22 I filled in the online form requesting an update and received a reply on Aug 19 that they are examining it – it was supposed to be a three day turn around time for a reply but took 6 weeks.
After my MP made inquires on my behalf, and within the 20 day travel date window, the Passport Office started to work on the application. It was then expedited and they had mentioned charging an additional fee to expidite it but didn’t after it was pointed out that they have had the application in their possession for over 18 weeks and their website still quoted a 21 day up to 13 week turnaround time.
